Hey MYDD turn Florida blue on the map.

Rasmussen has put out todays numbers for Florida.

Money quote:

Barack Obama has caught up to John McCain in Florida. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Obama with a statistically insignificant one-point advantage over his rival, 46% to 45%. When "leaners" are included, the Democrat leads 49% to 47%.

While I am not a huge fan of the Mydd methodology (latest poll sets the map), we should be consistent. So turn Florida blue.

but I think one of them is way off. We need to see more polling. If the next Ohio poll shows a big McCain lead, then I think the Florida poll is off, if another Florida poll has it close, then I'm suspicious of the Ohio poll

The other Florida polls this month on pollster are 47/45 McCain (but that's ARG so who knows) and 47/45 Obama from the unheard of War Room Logistics.

The only other Ohio poll this month is 48/40 Obama, but PPP tends to overpoll Obama.

Who knows really?

is releasing Minnesota numbers this afternoon. Why do I get the feeling their headline is going to be "Obama tanking in blue state. McCain could win it with Pawlenty"

My family lives in Ohio and I would say that poll is pretty off the mark just from personal experience. I have flipped several family members from red to blue and they are generally pretty conservative.

But if Ohio is red on the Mydd map then Florida should be blue.

One caveat, it's always very dangerous to generalize from your personal experience to the population at large. Having said that, I hope you're right.

That is very true. I do think, however, that when there are white conservatives in small town Ohio flipping to Obama it probably means McCain is screwed.
